What happens if my car still doesn't work properly immediately after it was fixed?
by Nadine
(New York )
My husband hit a deer and our insurance company was great. Paid for the car to be fixed. But the first day we picked it up something is still not right.
Can I contact the insurance company and make a new claim or add to the first one. What are my options?
Thanks.
Answer:
Hi Nadine,
You need to take the car back and demand that it must be fixed properly.
A collision or comprehensive claim is covered, but bad repairs usually are not, so a second claim will not really be an option. In addition, you will be subject to a second deductible.
You can have the bodyshop fix the car correctly. Your insurance company may help you if you went to one of their "approved" shops or if they have a "letter of guarantee."
Insurance adjusters often can persuade a bodyshop to fix the car properly as they send them a lot of business.
I hope this helps,
Good Luck
