What compensation should I receive/demand if I lost my job due to an accident injury

I was hit by a driver who ran a red light a few days before thanksgiving. I was taken to the hospital and have been receiving treatment since for neck injuries due to severe whiplash.

I am not released for regular work again until at least 12/14 so I have missed over three weeks, because of this I lost my job since I am a nanny and they family needed to find a replacement.

What kind of settlement am I entitled to since although I am released for work I have no job to return to?
