Snow Chains Cause Damaged to Vehicle

My daughter was driving her car in snowy conditions and had to put snow chains on.

One of the snow chains partially came off and damaged the front fender and severed some wiring under the car.

Is that covered under her auto policy and if so comp or collision?

Answer to Snow Chains Caused Damage to Vehicle

Hello there,

this is likely a collision claim. Look at the definition of the policy closely and compare both (Collision and Comprehensive).

Typically, comprehensive covers damages for non fault losses (with the exception of vandalism). Fire loses, wind, rain, flooding, animal hits, etc. Collision covers the rest.

Again, only your actual policy can answer this question!
