Reckless driving? | Not much I could do!
by Melanie
(Montpelier,va)
I swerved to miss a dog and hit a parked car and was charged with reckless driving.
Do you think that will stick and the judge will agree?
Answer:
Well, how fast where you going? Why didn't you see the dog? how big of a dog?
There are too many questions here. The charge will most likely stand as you caused property damage. You did not specify the degree so you maybe able to get it reduced.
Talk to the judge, sometimes they will feel bad and move your charge to a non moving violation.
Also, remember that the dog owner may be liable for letting a dog run without a leash.
It is a good idea to talk to an attorney.
Good Luck
