Rear Ended in Florida
by Suzy B
(Tallahassee fl)
I was rear ended by an uninsured driver. Damages run about 2000.00, the body shop i went to was referred to by Mercedes themselves. He wants me to go to a shop of his choice. I do not feel as if i need to give him more than one estimate...
i want my car to stay "Mercedes", and therefore i do not want to go to another place to have it done. Is this wrong of me to think? He says i need to get another estimate, and i say he needs to get insurance!
Answer:
Hello Suzy,
We know how you feel. They should have insurance. Here is the caveat, insurance companies do not allow for “dealership” repairs. They believe this is “not reasonable” as the repair is substantially higher than it should be (a non dealer bodyshop charges a lot less).
Your are not dealing with an insurance company so you could push the envelope.
As always, it is very important that you talk with a local attorney!
Good Luck,
