My Insuracen company is not returnig my call. Who can I contact?

I have submitted a claim with Universal Causality Company on Feb. 22 for vandalism on my vehicle. My insurance company sent out someone from there company to take a report as well as evaluate my vehicle. After the process, they stated that my vehicle was a total loss.

I have yet to receive payment on my vehicle. They have since towed the car away. I have called an left several message with the claims department with my adjuster as well as the manager of the department and the general mail box. I have also spoken with the receptionist who stated that she will walk the message over personally. NO ONE has called me back.

I submitted a report and claim with the California Insurance Bureau and still nothing!

I have submitted all request for documentations that the company has requested and still nothing.

Again, this claim was process in February. We are now in May and I have no idea what's going on.

Please help and direct me to the correct party. Do I need to get an attorney? Should I contact the insurance broker that sold me the insurance? My main concern is that if I hire an attorney this will cost me even more! As of right now I still owe money for my car.

I am sorry to hear about your claim. You have done everything right. You contacted the right parties. It’s interesting that no one is calling you back.

The best thing you can do is to build a paper trial of your communication attempts. Send them letters and email, and any other kind of documentation. Failure to investigate a claim is basis for Bad Faith. If things do not speed up for you, contact an attorney and explore the possibility of a lawsuit for bad faith. Sometimes insurance companies move faster if the department of insurance is involved, but in your case that does not seem to be the case.
