Liability insurance only on total loss
by Patti
(Maryland)
I recently was in an accident where my car was totaled. I still owe money on the car and I only had liability insurance.
I wasn't aware that I was supposed to have full coverage. My question is can I get in any kind of trouble for this? Thank you.
Answer:
Hello Patti,
What do you mean you are supposed to have full coverage? States require liability coverage but not full coverage. Is this because you have a loan on the car and the loan requires payment?
If that is the case, the carrier must address the issue of why you are not fully protected. Please see: http://www.auto-insurance-claim-advice.com/Financial-Responsibility.html
I hope this helps,
Good Luck,
