Changed his story and said I was the one that hit him?

I was driving in the middle lane and all of a sudden I was hit on the back side panel. The person driving apologized and now claims I hit him. How do I prove he was at fault?

The adjusters will have to do an investigation. Recorded statements, police reports, witness statements, point of impact on the vehicles, and probably a scene investigation. Usually word v. word circumstances are difficult to win, but if you have evidence, they are winnable.
