For these states, we studied the settlement trends of the cases that were reported publically. Many settlements with insurance companies are kept confidential, so it is difficult to ascertain a true and accurate pool of data.

In Alabama, we studied the settlement trends in the following counties and districts: Jefferson, Madison, Mobile, and Montgomery. In Florida, we analyzed: Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Duval, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Orange, Lee, and Dade. Finally, in Georgia, we looked at data from Fulton, Gwinnett, Dekalb, Cobb, and Bibb.

Note: We did take into account several other counties and districts and their data is complied under the "other" category.
